    • The designation 'architect' is generally reserved by law or custom to a person who is professionally
      and academically qualified and generally registered /licensed/certified to practice architecture
      in the jurisdiction in which he or she practices and is responsible for advocating the fair and
      sustainable development, welfare, and the cultural expression of society’s habitat in terms of space, forms,
      and historical context.

  • Architects who have received recognition of their qualifications from the government shall receive orders from clients
    and construct structures, and on the basis of their specialized knowledge, shall draft the most ideal projected
    architectural plan and design in terms of form, economy, stability, and functionality.
    In addition, through stringent supervision, architects will closely monitor whether the content of the design drafts is
    accurately reflected in the construction process, and in due course, shall provide advice and technical guidance
    to the client and the constructors.
  • Research and planning works
  • Architects shall conduct the following various research and planning activities plus designing new structures in accordance with the client’s request
    • Site analysis, investigation, and planning to select the site
    • Research and planning in order to establish architectural plans and resources
    • Conduct research to estimate budget for construction costs
    • Conduct research on other environmental factors
    • Develop a program for the construction process
  • Architectural design works
  • Architects shall be entrusted to design a building that will satisfy the client’s need based on their professional knowledge
    and experiences.
    • Basic planning
    • Basic drafting
    • Construction Document
  • Construction supervision works
  • Architects shall supervise whether or not constructors have been adequately entrusted with the construction on the basis of
    the design drafts. In lieu of the client, architects shall provide technical guidance and training to the constructors regarding
    the design draft, shall provide guidance and supervision during the construction, and shall perform final confirmation duty to
    verify completion of construction.
  • Contruction cotract, guidance, and supervision
  • Architects shall provide assistance to the client, and shall implement duties regarding the construction contract. In particular,
    they shall participate in deliberations and approval of payment of construction fees, including advice regarding the selection
    of constructors and the conditions of construction.
    In addition, they shall perform inspection of the construction plan, and shall provide advice to the client and constructors.

  • Architects shall be entrusted to carry out various licensing and inspection duties in lieu of the client and the government
    administrative office, which include
    • Application for an architecture permit
    • Supervision on the aesthetic aspect of the capital city
    • Inspections during and after the construction
    • Other supervision activities

  • In this increasingly complex age, architects are expected to assume a broad capacity of responsibilities beyond being a
    conflict mediator between interested parties. Their business expands to include safety assessment for structures as well as
    technical research confirmation for assessment of damages and structural evaluations.
